Margot graduated from Glasgow University in 1979 with an Honours Degree in Public International Law. From there she joined the firm of Kerr Barrie where, after completing her training, she worked her way up through the ranks, eventually becoming the senior partner, until the merger of Kerr Barrie with Mitchells Roberton in late 2017. During that time, she was also the firm’s Cashroom Manager and Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
She acts not only for individual clients on day to day legal matters such as house purchase and sale, Wills and Powers of Attorney and, more recently, executry administration, but also for a number of family businesses and SMEs dealing with commercial business and corporate administration.
Over the years Margot has seen many changes both in the law and in the advancement of new technologies. She enjoys meeting the challenges which these bring but what is most important to her is the solicitor-client relationship and the fact that, through the wide range of services offered, Mitchells Roberton is able to maintain a strong connection with its clients and their families.
When not behind her desk Margot enjoys dancing and cycling; and she is also on the board of a number of charitable trusts including Barrowland Ballet and the Tim Stead Trust.
