Hugh had his own practice, latterly trading as Grant Brown Lindsay, for over 30 years. He founded it himself in 1981 following training principally in civil and criminal court work. Grant Brown Lindsay expanded into residential and commercial conveyancing, private client services and the high profile estate agency division, Moving. Hugh’s principal interests remained in litigation where he developed a substantial debt recovery practice, receiving instructions from credit controllers, insolvency practitioners and also from recovery and litigation practices south of the border. Hugh’s intention is to continue to work with his client base and to develop his litigation practice with its accent on debt and contractual disputes and also covering liability issues such as professional negligence.
Civil litigation places a lot of demands on solicitors’ time. Hugh lives in the West End of Glasgow with his second wife and enjoys the triumphs and travails of his four children and three stepchildren. A keen golfer since the age of 7, he still searches for the game’s elusive secrets on occasional visits to Western Gailes and in what is left of his spare time particularly enjoys hill walking.
