A TRAINEE solicitor is set to swap Glasgow for the rainforests of Ecuador.

Thea Roth, 24, from Shawlands, will brave mosquitoes, reptiles and other jungle wildlife in aid of the National Deaf Children's Society.

She has already raised £2,300 and hopes to raise further sponsorship.

The trip starts on February 17 when she will fly to Quito, the capital of Ecuador with 19 others. Over the next 11 days they will trek through the rainforest which covers almost half the country.

Thea said: "My best friend at primary school was deaf, as is her brother, so I wanted to help the charity. Sleeping in dense jungle will be an amazing experience.

"The camp is simple with mattresses on the floor, mosquito nets, battery lamps and basic toilet facilities, so it will be a shock to the system."
