Mitchell Roberton's sponsorship of top amateur drama club Tryst Theatre has propelled the Falkirk-based actors to the Scottish finals of the Scottish Community Drama Association's one-act play festival.

Next month Tryst are one of nine teams performing their plays in the Eden Court Theatre in Inverness where one team will be crowned Scottish champions on May 24.

Tryst's Chairman Frank Murray said: "We're very grateful to Donald Reid and his firm for their generous sponsorship. It really has motivated us to perform at the highest level."

Tryst's play is the comedy "Duck Variations" by the American writer David Mamet in which veteran lakeside sages George and Emil pontificate more or less authoritatively on the duck's mating and migratory habits, its worries, diseases, domestic arrangements, feeding patterns...even its sexual difficulties.

Mitchells Roberton's Marketing Manager Sarah Gurton said: "As a result of this intriguing play I've learned a lot about the subject. A duck faces many challenges - hunters, blight, tornadoes, airplanes, changes in the weather, small vicious children. It's quite clear the duck's life is not all hearts and flowers."
